[ steve's been through a lot lately. he's already woken up in the future once, what's a second time? howard stark promised flying cars; steve ends up on a spaceship covered in goo and pushing down fear and worry because those have never helped anyone much. whatever this is, wherever (and whenever) he is — it won't be anything that he cannot manage. he has to tell himself that and he has to believe it. steve's a man of convictions, he doesn't back down quickly. not even if there is no discernible threat beyond the fact that he's woken up in a tube somewhere completely foreign to him.

this isn't new york. did one of the chitauri survive? no — stark had taken care of that. this can't be a chitauri ship. he finds the locker; one black suit later (he almost misses the familiarity of the red-and-blue) he steps out onto the corridor to search for some answers. ]

[ from the way rogers stumbles out of the pods and looks around, it's pretty easy to discern that he doesn't recall his previous time aboard. natasha allows herself a moment's irritation at the idea of having to explain the situation and that he's been here before all over again, but she's not exactly unpleased to see him. it's just one of the many inconveniences that comes with being aboard the tranquility. she doesn't quite rush to find him once she's cleaned off and dressed, but she does hope to get to him before stark does.

at some point, probably after he's had a chance to wander the halls a bit, he'll turn around to find her standing behind him, dressed in the jumpsuit with a gun holster strapped to her thigh. ]

[ he has no idea where he is and he most certainly doesn't recall any prior experience with this; as far as he knows this is the first time he's been aboard this vessel. (he doesn't even know yet that it's a vessel.) it's instinct that has him turn more than anything and in the split-second between feeling someone behind him and turning to see that it's natasha, he finds himself wishing for the suit again. this one works just fine, perhaps better in terms of stealth but he feels — not lost, exactly. it doesn't matter: he's still the same person, with or without the red-and-blue of his suit.

he gives her a nod and a slight smile that he knows doesn't hide his relief at seeing a familiar face. ] Where are we?
