[ She edges away. Her heart is in her mouth.

Is this a test? She would be tested, she knew. The way was hard. But no one had told her she would see the ghosts of dead women. ]

[She halts, confusion clouding her eyes. Her daughter has shied away from her before, in fits of stubbornness. But they have been parted for so long, and Catelyn did not expect to be met with hesitation.]

Arya? It's me, child. Your mother.

That's not—

[ The lie dies in her mouth. She's not supposed to be Arya, but it's hard to remember that in front of Arya's mother. She wants to run away; she wants to run into her mother's arm. She stays rooted in place. ]

My mother is dead. I saw it in a dream.

It was merely a dream -- a nightmare. Please, daughter. Do not think me dead when you're finally in my reach again.

[Some of her own dreams were achingly real, but nothing so painful as this.

She takes another step forward, her expression almost pleading.]
