[ this is fucked up, is the first thing that comes to mind when jax hits the floor. it's the sort of understatement that doesn't really come close to summing up the situation, but it's the best he's got. naked, covered in blue shit, and no clue where he is? yeah, there's not words to sum this up. he throws up, swears, and then claws his way to his feet because whatever the fuck this is he's not taking it lying down.

hearing tara isn't really possible, considering his ears are still ringing and the entire place is just noise and clamor and nakedness, but he sees her. jax teller will always pick tara knowles out of a crowd. that's just how things are. ]

[ at which point he rips a towel out of someone's hands, some fucker who backs right off at the look on jax's face and puts it around her shoulders. he's not much of a gentleman, that teller boy, but sometimes he manages. ]

[ it's not like jax is kohn with his special little names ( only i say it right, tara he said once, right before she got out and it made her skin crawl ) but he could say her name once, after years of not hearing it, and she'd still know. she's always known jax, that's part of the problem. ]

[ there's a little bit of a bite to the words because this shit is fucked up and tara knowles doesn't do scared so much as she does pissed, but she clutches at jax with hands that shake still. ]

[ the thing about jax and tara, the thing that drives gemma fucking crazy and the thing that jax can't even deny, is that she pulls him in like a magnet, like a fish on a fucking hook. jax is stuck, has been stuck for a long time. it's just a fact. even here, wherever the fuck here is, she pulls him and jax goes willingly. where else would he be but at tara's side? ]

I don't know. [ tara snaps and jax goes steady, the way he does when he has to say some shit, has to be the cool head prevailing. ] I've never seen anything like this before.

[ outside of movies, but he figures that one is a given, and that the last thing tara wants to hear is anything about some sci-fi bullshit. ]

[ it's like jax-- jax who's always been big, kind of like a golden lab when they were kids, all hands and feet and goofy grins-- is big enough to hold strength for both of them, and after a minute to realize she's shaking on the ground and feel hideously embarrassed, she nods. ]

[ because there's pride ( he'll carry her right now over her dead body ) and then there's stupid. ]
