[ her confused look just turns into an all-out grin, to which she will just. You know what. Yeah. She's going to go right in for the hug. And then step away just after, maybe feeling a little embarrassed but too excited to really care. ]

You too, old man. Welcome to space.

[he's not really the hugging sort, but this seems like the exception to the rule sort of moment, so he's only slightly awkward when Jo pulls away, running a hand through what remains of his hair before replacing his ball cap and giving a proper look around]

So this ain't some trickster's idea of a good time then?

Not as far as I can tell. Not a Heaven or Hell either, though Hell seems more likely with the kind of stuff we get.

[ but right, he'd been looking for Sam and Dean. And she should probably ask about timeline things and if he was here before or all those other semi-important things that she'd been briefed with when she showed up.

Dean's here. Somewhere. [ and if she frowns a little at his name. well. we can just ignore that. ] Sam was, too, for a while. He disappeared a month or so back.

Wait, disappeared? What do you mean he disappeared? [worried not!dad is worried] And what sort of stuff happens here?

The ship's like some nightmare fun-house. Things stop working, take you to places that haven't been there before, that kinda thing. Sam got lost on a lift with a bunch of others from the ship. We went after them, found some rat-infested lab and the rest of the group, but no Sam.

Cas said he went home. There are ways of checking for that sort of thing, but Dean still thinks he's out there.

Just an example. I haven't been here long, haven't seen much, but from what I've heard it's a lot of the same.

[Bobby nods, listening as she explains] He wouldn't just get up and leave Dean. Not like that. Not without saying something first. He's gotta be out there somewhere.

[he looks up at Jo again. might as well try broaching the subject] You said you ain't been here long. Where were you before you showed up at this freakshow?

He didn't really have a choice. The ship has a way of singling people out, spitting them into corridor that go in circles, don't connect to anything. Hell, it'll send you home whenever it feels like it too. Free Will's kind of a joke around here.

[ Anndddd let's get right to the point why don't you, Bobby. Geez. ] You mean back home? [ Jo looks away for a moment, shrugs a little. ] Carthage. I came from Carthage. [ She's silent for a moment, trying to keep herself from thinking about it too much. ] You?

Figures. It's not like we go through enough of the ringer back home, but now we've got Hell in space, too?

[he's never been good at niceties ; ; also ouch, that's ... yeah, that's what he was afraid of] Bit further down the line. Like I said: It's good to see you again, girl.

At least we're used to it at this point.

[ she doesn't even mind because at least it's him. ] Some kind of afterlife, right? [ and she laughs, a little. kind of a hollow sound. she's working on getting past the whole thing, but it's a little more difficult than she thought it would be. ] How much further?

[that laugh just about breaks his heart. he never should have outlived her or her mom] Couple years, I reckon. A lots happened.

[ Jo frowns a little, thinking. ] Last I talked to Dean he was right from around Carthage too. Cas is from later, though. A lot later.

There's something wrong with all of us, Jo. It's in the job description.

[Bobby takes note of that, eyebrow raised] How far exactly?

Good point.

[ jo thinks about it for a minute before shrugging. ]

Long enough that there's something off between him and Dean.

[he nods, able to at least figure a ball park time frame but not going into specifics. if she doesn't know, then Dean must have his reasons] Things don't get any easier down the line, that's for sure.
