Huh... There's a mistletoe right above you... That's weird, it's Decemb-- oh wait. December is the perfect time to get stuck under the mistletoe with someone. And look! There's a someone else stuck with you under there right now! And, of course, you both can't move until you kiss one another (~~Of course, not specifying where that kiss needs to happen~~).

Let's start off December with a little holiday cheer!

Hello there! You're looking quite well now. I'm glad.

[ she, totally oblivious to non-thedosian traditions, if unaware of the garland hanging over them. ]

[He's not looking up, but he does offer her a kind smile.

It gets awkward once he realizes he's pretty much glued to the spot.]

[ people smiling makes her smile. but once she too realizes she is unable to move, it turns awkward and sheepish. ]

[ looking around to see if maybe someone has cast a spell as a prank, her eye does catch the strange plant hanging from the ceiling. bethany points to it with a frown. ]

Look there. Whatever could that be for?

I have been well. It takes... some time to adjust, but I have faith in my ability to adapt.

[It's all fun and polite conversation until he realizes he also cannot move, something he finds more than a bit worrisome. Templar tricks? A Piece of Eden?

[ bethany isn't nervous so much as on guard and more than a little antsy. the ability to move is a good one! why restrict it? she shakes her head. ]

Waxy leaves, white berries. It is called "mistletoe". As I am told, a young woman would wait beneath it for a kiss around Christmastime.

[ well, christmas is a holiday she knows nothing about. so there's no recognition there. but the other part? bethany finds herself blushing quite brightly all of a sudden. ]

It is good luck, I think. I know only a little about it, myself. Where I come from, we do not have this tradition.

[ that is because she isn't just nervous. she is very nervous. she has been completely sheltered and overly protected her entire life. blame her family and the circle. ]

It is possible. I don't know if it is entirely necessary for us to kiss, but that is a good guess as to the solution.

[Ohhh boy. As if he can kiss someone sweet and innocent and shy without feeling like a hideous person. Yikes. He's used to bolder women, let's be honest.]

[ the anxiety is that she has no idea what she's doing and will make an ass of herself. they're both stuck unless she can get over her insecurity and shyness. ]

Then I suppose there's nothing else to be done.

[ he's handsome and kind. she keeps that in mind, and somehow manages to smile. marian would have freed them by now were she in her place. somehow putting it into that sort of perspective helps. bethany takes a step forward and leans up to give him a kiss. hopefully she isn't awful at it? ]

[Francesco, for his part, tips his head down and gives her the sweetest, most inoffensive and gentle kiss he can manage, a chaste press of his lips against hers.

[ that is exactly what it was. her cheeks are still tinted with a little bit of color. if this is what indulging in this tradition is like, it's not so bad at all. ]

I didn't know it would be as nice as that. But it was.

[ if she's to learn how to greet him in the manner he's used to, she might as well do so properly. words and all, if there are any. ]

[Hey, scantily clad women with hearts of gold definitely have a place in his heart. He'd understand.

No, not particularly. People simply greet each other, say hello. And where you are from? How do people greet each other?

We say hello and sometimes shake hands.

[Well, a little kiss returned makes Francesco shy up slightly. It's just a cultural exchange program over here, isn't it.]

Shaking hands is normal where I am from, as well, though a hug is suitable as well.

Most folk don't hug strangers where I'm from. It's something for friends, or family to express their affection.
