Inquisitor?

[Cole has that way of just being someplace, whether or not you were looking for him. Possibly specifically when you thought he was certainly not there, movement just outside of your peripheral vision solidifying into the scarecrow-like young man.

He looks to the Inquisitor's left hand, then back up at his face. Then at his hand again. Then at his face. He wrings his hands together slightly.]

You are taller. And more male.

[Dasha's familiar with Cole's ways and means, but that doesn't stop from starting, just a bit, as the boy-spirit materializes in front of him. The little flame in his palm gutters; then winks out.

He clears his throat; smiles warmly; gently.]

Oh, am I? I hope it's not too disappointing.

[fade_away]

No. [Cole's tone is even with the slight lit of curiosity to it, as always.] Solas seems different too. He talked of an amulet? I don't know of any.

[That's a relief, at least! Dasha has always appreciated Cole's earnestness.

As for the amulet, though ... that Cole doesn't know about it suggests not only different universes, but different timelines as well. Having experienced the latter directly, it's a little easier to stomach.]

Ah, yes, there was an amulet ... but that might be the future to you, whereas it's the past for him.

[And Dasha, too. He recalls quite clearly the choice he had to make there, the emotional turmoil that Cole suffered. Varric had been disappointed, but Cole was a spirit. Wasn't it best for someone to be who they were? And, more to the point in Dasha's case, wasn't it better to forgive rather than to constantly, constantly avenge?]

Like Sebastian. [That's easy enough to understand. He has to go by what the Inquisitor says instead of what he feels, the anchor drowns out everything else unless Cole focuses his hardest to hear past it. He has heard of no amulet - Varric is only just now sending word to Hawke back home, that will set off the chain of events of finding the Warden to lead them back to Adamant Fortress, to set off Cole's fear of being bound. He thinks little of it now, balancing on the tightrope between existences. For now he can keep his balance.] He's grieving for a loss that hasn't happened yet.

Oh? Is this another friend of yours?

No. He was one of Varric's friends. Then he was upset and stopped being their friend. People died and let his anger keep him afloat so he wouldn't drown in grief.
