[ she hasn't actually opened her locker yet. instead she's just sitting on the bench, staring at it as though waiting for something to happen. finally her gaze drops, to her arms instead of the locker across from her. one arm bears the nanites now coded into her skin, the other a nasty, ugly cut curving across her inner elbow where a tracker had not long been removed. her expression while looking across both marks is...completely blank, and finally she exhales in a loud huff and stands instead.

when the locker pops open and her bow is the first thing to fall out, katniss actually cracks something vaguely resembling a smile. the whole situation screams Capitol to her, but if she's armed- well, that's their mistake. Everything else gets left behind as she pulls out an arrow and immediately strings it, turning sharply with the intentions of heading straight for the exit.

in a towel. with nothing but a bow and arrow to protect herself.

listen she's not exactly well known for her planning skills. ]

[There's a certain comfort in being aware of your own lack of sanity. Peeta is, all things considered, pretty calm and lucid at the moment. As long as you ignore the blood coating his knuckles (on his locker) from earlier.

The jumpsuit and key to his handcuffs is off to the side for when he finishes getting clean. The handcuffs make washing tricky, but he could have only been hallucinating the not wearing them and end up dislocating a wrist over that. Again. Not pleasant the first time. Or he could have really had them off and ended up shot with bullets or tranquilizers when found. Also not something he looked forward to a second time. ]

[ katniss is looking for people, because if she's been dragged here it only seems likely that there are other victors here too. on her way into the lockers she grabs something sharp and solid, and it's brandished as a weapon as she gently steps into the room.

only one is running - which makes it easy to narrow down where to go. she adjusts her grip slightly, moving closer to the running water, and she turns the corner sharply - only to freeze immediately once she sees the person by the shower. ]

Peeta? [ her voice wavers slightly, and the object in her hand clatters to the floor loudly as she takes a step closer, staring at him. ] Peeta, is that you?

[ it is, she knows it is, but there's just enough off about him that she can't quite believe it. ]

[It's Katniss, because, of course it's Katniss. It solidifies that this is a hallucination and not a nightmare, because reality is off the table. She's always in his hallucinations but pointedly absent from his nightmares. Her absence is practically a physical thing, for some reason a source of distress.

He bites at the inside of his cheek to snap himself out of it, but the nominal pain and taste of blood don't dispell this, don't dispell her, so that's a wash. His eyes briefly look from her to whatever she dropped. He has no idea what it is but it looks heavy. But, no, she'd get to it before he did. It's right next to her and she was always faster.

He briefly considers detaching his prosthetic leg for a weapon and the absolute absurdity of THAT makes him laugh, a hollow broken sound, ending with a cough because his mouth is still bleeding. So he spits that down the drain, wipes his hair out of his eyes and looks at Katniss again.

Thirteen's security is never far and they will surely be by any moment now. They get antsy when he's alone with her, for some reason.]

It's alright, I won't try to choke you again. [he holds up his cuffed wrists to show. They're in front of him though and her neck is small, he could still try. He still speaks with the same likable easy tone that for a moment almost sounds like the old Peeta.] Didn't work the first time after all.
