[back home, that is. han hadn't been particularly forthcoming with answers as he'd like. so while anakin knows that luke is from a time far in to his own future, he doesn't know much beyond that. even with the force confirming their connection, the idea of luke being anything more than a relative lost in a move across the galaxy hasn't been something he's focused on for too long. even his theories about obi-wan's vision were left behind with the end of that conversation. it's easier that way. whispers of their shared connection to tatooine, to obi-wan kenobi; they're voices he'd pointedly ignored since the moment the other padawan shared his vision with him.
the whispers in the corridors hadn't helped, of course. there would never be any escape from those hushed tones, no matter what he tries. it's those very same whispers that echo in his head now, pushing him to ask those questions. to discover just who luke really is.
a liar? no. a slave? no. family. family that's few and far between. blood can't be ignored so simply. blood that keeps him from turning tail and leaving this conversation to the other jedi aboard the ship. obi-wan and quinlan would undoubtedly be better suited to all of this. or han solo, a man who actually knows luke in return. anybody other than him. run away, it whispers. leave now. he can't be trusted, it hisses. but if this really is all an elaborate trick, he's ready to see it through to the end. anakin skywalker never backs down from a challenge.]

[the ship. why the two of them are able to meet like this in the first place. they're details he really would prefer to leave to somebody else to answer. and if the voice had its way, he'd turn around and do just that right now. but while the voice wants him to leave, the force implores him to stay, and it's far easier to sink in to that feeling of safety that accompanies a power so absolute as the force itself.]
