Huh... There's a mistletoe right above you... That's weird, it's Decemb-- oh wait. December is the perfect time to get stuck under the mistletoe with someone. And look! There's a someone else stuck with you under there right now! And, of course, you both can't move until you kiss one another (Of course, not specifying where that kiss needs to happen).

Let's start off December with a little holiday cheer!

[ ahem, well! she casts flame blast at the offending garland. the sight of it burning should be satisfying. but as she dusts her hands on her robes and tries to take a step to at least let him move before his leg cramps up, she finds that she still can't. ]

It seems a try is exactly what it was.

[ more like a longshot, but. she casts a sheepish glance back at him. ]

If I cast it again, I might hurt something. I'm sorry it didn't work.

[ Alistair's used to mages casting spells all over the place, so only winces a little. He dusts off the ashes in his hair. ]

You don't need to apologize. It's this place that's dumb.

We're still kind of stuck though.

[ she notices that he barely blinks an eyelash and thinks he's kind of awesome for it. ]

I have no idea why these are up so early anyhow. Satinalia isn't for at least another two weeks!

[ point. her cheeks turn red once again. ]

Um, yes. So we are. What do we do to get unstuck, then?

[ she isn't brave enough to kiss the king of her homeland without so much as a by-your-leave. this is why marian would have freed them sooner. ]

I... don't rightly know. Do you think the thingie had something to do with this? Like it wants us to... kiss?

[ Oops his face is as red as hers. ]

I mean, normally that would be stupid, but this place is kind of evil.

I'm not sure. Does this vessel have a mind of its own?

[ oh, maker. she's never kissed anybody before. blame it on cullen locking her up in prison for six years? ]

Now if that doesn't give me a sense of foreboding, I'm not sure what should.

We don't have a lot of options right now short of cutting our feet off, so do you want to try? If it works, I'll make you dinner. Like any girl I would kiss deserves. If... it doesn't, you can call me creepy and slap me in the face.

[ bethany frowns. ]

I would do neither of those things, whether it works or not.

[ it doesn't matter if he's a king or the boy next door. he's proving to be quite sweet and she wouldn't raise a hand to someone so kind. anyhow! she gathers herself, and takes a careful step closer to him. ]

Dinner sounds wonderful, though.

Phew. I don't like getting slapped in the face much.

[ He raises a hand to touch her cheek, testing the waters. She has lovely hair. ]

Don't hold your breath. I'm actually a terrible cook.

[ He leans down, lightly pressing their lips together. ]

[ she doubts anyone does. the way she looks at him seems to soften as she relaxes. she even smiles a little when she leans her cheek into his hand. he's quite the gallant. ]

Then maybe I can help with that? I'm not so bad.

[ she stands there a moment to get used to the feeling before timidly pressing her lips to his. really, she's twenty-five. she can stop being shy at anytime, right? ]

[ It's not a terribly exciting kiss, long enough to be qualified more than just a peck but short enough to prove he's not taking advantage of the situation. ]

[ When he's done, he slowly pulls away and -- oh! His feet are moving again! ]

He-y, I can move again!

[ no, but it also didn't turn her into a toad! all that fright for nothing. she tests out her own ability to move by stepping back a few paces and grins radiantly like the sunshine she's nicknamed for. ]

Oh, no, thank you. [ He doesn't know what he meant by that, but he does know he is completely charmed by her. He takes a few steps back too, giving her space, and waves an arm. ] So... how does dinner tomorrow night sound?

Um, well you're quite welcome.

[ she doesn't either, but the way he's emphasized the you in that sentence leaves a lot of room for possible interpretation. but she is sure that she likes him. he's a kind, good man. and that's a rare thing.

[ He realizes he's walking backwards as he talks, so when he's about to turn around and leave, he hits a wall. Smooth. He keeps his composure, hoping she didn't see that, and walks away but not without tossing her another glance. ]
