Huh... There's a mistletoe right above you... That's weird, it's Decemb-- oh wait. December is the perfect time to get stuck under the mistletoe with someone. And look! There's a someone else stuck with you under there right now! And, of course, you both can't move until you kiss one another (Of course, not specifying where that kiss needs to happen).

Let's start off December with a little holiday cheer!

But it seems we are stuck with it.

Unless we.. what? Kiss?

[ that is because she isn't just nervous. she is very nervous. she has been completely sheltered and overly protected her entire life. blame her family and the circle. ]

It is possible. I don't know if it is entirely necessary for us to kiss, but that is a good guess as to the solution.

[Ohhh boy. As if he can kiss someone sweet and innocent and shy without feeling like a hideous person. Yikes. He's used to bolder women, let's be honest.]

And now we're stuck--physically--under mistletoe, and I'm just staring at you.

[ the anxiety is that she has no idea what she's doing and will make an ass of herself. they're both stuck unless she can get over her insecurity and shyness. ]

[Francesco, for his part, tips his head down and gives her the sweetest, most inoffensive and gentle kiss he can manage, a chaste press of his lips against hers.

You're acting very defensive, Miles Edgeworth. Could it be that you're suffering from a guilty conscience? [ She glances up at the plant again, scowling. Blaming Miles is better than admitting she has no idea what's happening. So she does. ]

it takes her a second to respond - sort of like being pushed when she's not ready for it - and she reels a bit before she manages to kiss him back. if she favors his bottom lip, it's not because she means to sort of rush along exactly, it's just that he's taller and when his lips part it seems natural to do so. her hands end up sort of holding onto his arms, one near his shoulder, the other gripping his forearm, because it seems wrong to not do anything with her hands, but also kind of tricky because pulling him any closer would be. bad. most likely. so his arms! right! arms are safe. right?

thinking is hard when you're kissing someone new, that's her final conclusion here. ]

Fine, fine. [ Bells leans in and kisses his cheek anyway, making sure he sees the smile. ] At least it looks like I can move now.

[ She is, naturally, not about to listen. Must run in the family. His wariness is matched with her own suspicion.

She frowns as she watches him attempt to tear it down. Brows only furrow more when his attempts do not provide the results she wants. most likely the results they both want, since this is awkward, though possibly in different ways for each of them.] There isn't any 'science' magic cannot break.

[ She snaps her attention back to that twig, eyes flare brighter as she mutters a spell stronger than before. Oh look, she got a leaf to sway a little bit. ]

What does it want? [ Whatever 'it' wants, it involves them working together, so instinctively, that is earning Morgana's fuming disapproval. Even more-so because she thinks she recognizes the implied traditions, though for now, denial seems a better path.]

I was going to warn you about the mistletoe.

[She takes it as a good sign that he responds with a chuckle.]

That was my thought, or see if a cheek kiss might be enough.

[ Sorry, York's a professional brat. Oh wait, he's not sorry.

He looks up at it again, turning his eyes upward without moving his head. ]

Pretty dangerous stuff, huh?

[ Carolyn is only just a captain. She is a reluctant leader, willing to step back and let the more experienced take charge. She is perfectly fine with admitting when she's made a mistake. But she is stubborn and insistent on survival and her bark is loud and her bite is getting better, and the Tranquility sorely needs someone like her. Having Hotspur around was a great help. She was less stressed than she otherwise would be, and while her sleep wasn't actually better, she took more breaks. She slept in her room instead of in the shuttle bay most nights and she smiled more. It was a good setup. It worked. And somehow she knew that Hotspur wouldn't mind it so much if he ever found out that she had been field promoted, just as she knew that she would never, ever tell him what she had tried to do to keep herself alive.

She's not smiling now, though. The mistletoe is above them and Carolyn sighs, finishing up her notes on her comms device before tucking it back into her belt. ]

Is being stuck an Earth thing, too? [ Well, at least it's Hotspur and not Kirk. ]
