Personality: Algidus has a rather cold exterior, and it's not just because of the thick ice that makes up his skin. He has suffered greatly multiple times over in his life, most recently being at the hands of the Box's Technicians who cloned him from an individual named Glacius--pitting honor and kindness against bitterness and resentment, which has resulted in a maladjusted individual who is steeped in a lot of internal conflict. This conflict has spawned a lot of issues in the ice alien. Algidus often seems cool-headed and somewhat distant just as his original did, but since a lot of his patience is taken up by his attempts to deal with his own issues, his emotions can flare--this often means that he is more likely to act hostile or aggressive than he did back before he was cloned. Algidus now believes that the alternative to violence is waiting for violence to come from a universe that has proven itself to possess neither respect nor compassion. As such, he often boasts about his powers and abilities and uses fighting as a way to put his strength on display to discourage anyone that might seek to harm him or his people. On a deeper level, it is a direct cover for the feeling of inadequacy and disposability that Algidus suffers because of his cloned nature; his false arrogance is an attempt to conceal the fact that he feels he was created to be a mere copy. That goes both ways, however. While the cloning may have caused a number of unpleasant new developments in Algidus' personality, he also retains a number of Glacius' positive traits as well--though he unfortunately tries to bury them down because he often sees them as weaknesses. To him, being gentle and kind-hearted is just another way of inviting someone to hurt him, but if someone is patient with him, respects his space, and shows him support when he needs it, he will do his best to grant them the same courtesy—which will open the door to develop a deeper friendship with the alien.
Common haunts around the camp or in the jungle: Algidus patrols the jungle that lines the camp regularly and occassionally pushes further out, though he hasn't settled down in one spot yet. He is a reclusive creature that can be somewhat hard to track down, but finding him along the river is always a good bet since he does most of his hunting there. What have they been doing with their time? Though Algidus is still rather new here and thus is still getting his footing, he does provide food for the camp when he has some to spare. While he is perfectly suited to catching smaller prey, he has also proven to be one of the only people who is capable of drawing those armored cephalopods out of the water and cracking their armor open to get at the rich meat inside. He usually seems to expect to get something in return for that, though! Aside from that he's been conversing with select individuals, trying to gather more knowledge about the planet and the ship so that he can one day hatch an escape attempt. Current people they hang out with: AJ Harris is his partner in crime, so to speak. They've gotten themselves wrapped up in a little agreement where he provides her with food and necessities of living and she helps give him the inside scoop on what's going on with the camp and its inhabitants. He's testing the waters with a couple of others including Rey, Roy, and Carlisle... all of which are either interesting or seem useful to him for various reasosn. And finally, he is keeping a close eye on Firo, as he seems to know his original Glacius (who was in-game briefly, prior to the Tranquility's crash, before I dropped him).
Looking for: Any and all. Algidus is very prickly so negative CR is a definite (and oftentimes likely) possibility with him, but I would love to have him meet some more characters that would have a positive affect on him and gradually get him to open up. Any future plans for them? Algidus' number one priority right now is to get back to his homeworld and his people... while he has realized that it's probably not going to be immediately possible, it's always something that is in the back of his mind. He has thought about investigating what remains of the Tranquility's shuttles to see if they could be used to that end; he is also thinking about trying to gather communications equipment to maybe send out an alien SOS. Far-reaching goals for the moment, but if your characters is the type to want to get the hell out of dodge then definitely hit me up! He is also very invested in stretching or breaking free of the tether that binds people within a certain proximity of the ship, which could involve jungle exploration missions or maybe even hunting down the strange creature that has been purported to be responsible for some of the mental weirdness going on around the planet. Anything else: Algidus' profile card is this way if you want a crash course on him. It's also probably worth noting that anyone who can provide him with a way to cool off will have an instant in with the big guy!
