Algidus bristled, his grip on the segment of vine tightening. "The gravitational pulls of planets can be unpredictable, especially if you do not have solid intel on them!" Realizing that he was letting this all get too personal and not wanting to own up to his mistake, he blinked, then tried to smooth himself out. "Besides, we have no idea how it happened. Maybe those damages were from other craft. Maybe they were shot down onto this planet; we don't know. Anyways, knowing how hard-up you get for this sort of thing, I thought you'd be more excited." The alien only realized the familiarity that had bled into his tone when the words were out of his gills. Blinking again, he kept his gaze locked on the vine in his hands, pulling his shifted finger out and testing another point.
